Raúl Sojo Montes is a North Carolina based photographer and videographer born in Caracas, Venezuela, who lived in an environment undergoing drastic political and social changes. With a major in journalism and a published novel under his belt – about a corrupted justice system set in the actual socialistic era –, he now has found his way to the Wilmington area, where he resides with his family.  

Sojomontes is well known in his country for Venezuela Gigante, a collection of Venezuelan landscape photographs, along with being the founder of Coronel Sumaq, a video & photography production company, where he has directed social, corporate and commercial pieces. His works have been exhibited in both, Miami and Caracas.

One could say that Sojomontes no longer observes, he frames. Even when the camera is absent, the photographer’s eye never rests.
